Matt Wohl

Matthew Wohl-  I was born in San Francisco in May 1988 to a fanatic second generation SF Giants fan and an oblivious Australian mother. Had I been premature, I would have been there opening day and had my mother not been such a poor sport I would have been named William Mays Wohl.  I earned some Criox du Candlestick through the years while my younger infant brother went home with mum and my father and I stayed through the bitter extra innings.  I was fortunate enough to see Bonds’ hit record breaking Homeruns #71 and #72, but only because the attacks on September 11th changed the schedule of my dad’s tickets to Tony Gwynn’s last game.  I trashed my room in the fall of 2002 and didn’t attend school for a week.  After studying music at UC San Diego, I moved to New York to pursue my talents as a contrabassist and educator.  On November 1st, 2010 I drank a single Anchor Steam and an It’s-It while watching my beloved team win the World Series for the first time.

My favorite Giant of all time was third baseman Matt Williams and still proudly wear number 9 for all personal jerseys.  Matt Cain is very, very close to becoming my favorite Giant of all time. I started this blog right before the 2012 MLB season as a way to justify my fanaticism and connect with Giants fans from both coasts.  True Giants fans live a certain way and speak with a certain language that I hope to voice, document and spread to fellow fans.
